High pressure tanning lamps are commonly used in higher end tanning beds and booths in the facial area to give the tanners face a stronger exposure to UVA. High pressure lamps are always conceled behind a filter glass due to their extreme power ratings such that the glass diffuses the UV over a larger surface area reducing chances of overexposure to any specific spot.
It is best not to touch your new High Pressure lamp as the oil from your fingers can cause uneven heat distribution and can cause premature failure. Always wear gloves or use the package itself to reduce the chances of any foreign substance on the glass surfaces.
